Karin Oldfelt Hjertonsson lives and works in Stockholm.
She has been engaged in various artistic activities. These activities included studies in oil painting in Brussels as elève libre at Academie des Beaux Arts and wood cut techniques in Chile with illustrations to Pablo Neruda's book Maremoto. During years in Havana in the beginning of the 90's she worked with lithographs, woodcuts and silk-screens on various themes from Cuban nature and wildlife.
Karin now dedicates herself to painting with watercolours and acrylic. Apart from in Sweden she has had exhibitions in Finland, New York, Spain and Chile. In her paintings she takes inspiration from flowers and landscapes.
As a thank you for helping Swedish naturalists in Cuba, she had a newly discovered plant genus named after her: Oldfeltia, an honor that only a few Swedish women have received.
